Intro

Lord, You're mighty... (8x)

Verse 1

Oh, Lord, how excellent
Is Your name in all the earth!
You set Your glory above
The heavens and the earth!
When I think of all You've made,
The sun, the moon, and the stars,
No praise is high enough
To express how great You are.

Verse 2

What a mighty God we serve
Angels would bow before the mighty God we serve.
What a mighty God we serve
Mighty God we serve
Let heaven and earth adore
The mighty God we serve.

Chorus

Lord, You're mighty... (8x)

All praise, praise

Meaning & Inspiration

“Lord You’re Mighty” by Youthful Praise is a gospel choir song of praise built on the repeated line “Lord, You’re mighty.” The first verse opens with “Oh Lord, how excellent is Your name in all the earth,” which closely follows Psalm 8:1. It then looks at the sun, the moon, and the stars made by God, a picture close to Psalm 8:3, and says no praise is high enough to express how great He is.

The second verse changes to a plain congregational refrain: “What a mighty God we serve,” with angels bowing before Him and heaven and earth invited to adore Him. That invitation is close to Psalm 148:13, which says His glory is above earth and heaven, and to Hebrews 1:6, where the angels worship.

The bridge is a series of Hallelujahs with “all glory, all honor, all praise.” The page also shows a call and response between the ladies and everyone, then an ending that returns to the mighty God we serve. The message is simple, sustained worship of the Lord’s greatness.
