Lyrics
Verse
I know what it's like
To be in the presence of the Lord
And not know what time it is
Because time stood still
And bodies were healed families restored
Because we stayed here
In the presence of the Lord
No one had to say a word
Couldn't even make a sound
But I'd give up everything
For this treasure I've found
I never want it to end
Chorus (x2)
So I say stay
I don't want You to go
Cause my heart is burning
In Your presence Lord
Bridge (x2)
I want more
I want more
I want more
Jesus, I want more
Only You Can Satisfy (x3)
Only You can satisfy my heart
Only You can satisfy my soul
Only You can satisfy my heart
Jesus, Jesus
Verse 2
If I take what the world has offered
I'll have to come again, again and again
With just one drink of his living water
I'll never thirst again, I'll never thirst again
Only You Can Satisfy (x3)
Only You can satisfy my heart
Only You can satisfy my soul
Only You can satisfy my heart
Jesus, Jesus
Verse 2 (Repeat)
If I take what the world has offered
I'll have to come again, again and again
Just one drink of his living water
I'll never thirst again, I'll never thirst again
Refrain (x7)
Jacob's well will never do
So I will draw from You
This old world will never do
So I will draw from You
Refrain (Repeat)
Jacob's well will never do
So I will draw from You
This old world will never do
So I will draw
Only You Can Satisfy (x2)
Only You can satisfy my heart
Only You can satisfy my soul
Only You can satisfy my heart
Jesus, Jesus

Meaning & Inspiration
“Stay || Only You Can Satisfy” by William McDowell joins two songs of longing for God’s presence. The first half begins with memory, “I know what it’s like to be in the presence of the Lord,” where time seemed to stand still, no one needed to speak, and the singer would “give up everything for this treasure I’ve found.” The plea that follows is plain: “Stay, I don’t want You to go,” with a heart burning in His presence, and then the repeated cry “I want more.”
The second half turns to satisfaction. “Only You can satisfy my heart” is repeated, set against what the world offers: “I’ll have to come again, again and again,” while one drink of living water means never thirsting again. The closing section names Jacob’s well and says it will never do, so “I will draw from You.”
The imagery recalls John 4, where Jesus offers living water to a woman at Jacob’s well, and Psalm 63:1 voices a similar thirst for God.
