About William McDowell
William David McDowell is an American gospel musician, worship leader, and pastor. He was born on August 31, 1976, in Cincinnati, Ohio, and earned a degree in Entertainment Business from Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida. Before launching his own music career, he served as a music director and keyboardist for gospel artist Ron Kenoly.
McDowell was ordained as a pastor in 2007 and now serves as the lead pastor of Deeper Fellowship Church in Orlando, Florida. His pastoral ministry and recording career have developed side by side, with his music often reflecting his congregation’s worship life. He is also an author, having written the book It’s Happening: A Generation Is Crying Out and Heaven Is Responding.
McDowell launched his music career in 2009 with the album As We Worship. He followed with a series of live worship recordings: Arise (2011), Withholding Nothing (2013), Sounds of Revival (2016), Sounds of Revival II (2017), and The Cry: A Live Worship Experience (2019). In 2023 he released an EP titled The Promise.
His work has received industry recognition. Withholding Nothing earned him a Grammy Award nomination for Best Gospel Album at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards. He has also won GMA Dove Awards and Stellar Awards for his musical work. The Cry: A Live Worship Experience was nominated for a Billboard Music Award for Top Gospel Album in 2020.
