Meaning & Inspiration
“He Turned It” by Tye Tribbett is a high-energy praise song about God reversing a hopeless situation. The first verse recalls times when the singer thought he would never make it, was almost down for the count, and then stood up again, saying that what hell meant for evil, God turned around for good. The line is close to Genesis 50:20.
The second verse looks back on nights of crying, pain, worry, fear, and stress. The bridge lets the congregation fill in the word at the end of each line, “the devil thought he had me,” until someone greater stepped in and the morning began. The shout “He turned it!” follows.
