Meaning & Inspiration
Track Record is a testimony song about a changed identity. The opening invites anyone who wants to see God's track record to look at the singer, saying "we have history." The next section repeats "He put His name on me," and the verses describe being a sinner who thought it was over, a label with no identity, a beggar and an orphan, with the singer putting His name on each need and Him placing His name on the singer.
The idea of being named by God fits Isaiah 43:1, Revelation 3:12 and 2 Corinthians 5:17 on becoming new. The lines "one time not enough, two times not enough" and "I won't leave the same" describe repeated encounters that leave a lasting change. Rhythmic, repetitive and declarative, the song works as a spoken-and-sung testimony of what God has done in a life.
