Meaning & Inspiration
“So Good to Me Jesus” by Tim Godfrey is a song of thanksgiving that holds to God’s goodness in all circumstances. The opening line, “You are so good to me Jesus,” is followed by the phrase “in all circumstances,” which sets the tone for the song. The verse calls him dependable and says that whatever comes, “you are still God” and everything is working out for good.
The long bridge lists hard moments: when the singer is down, broke, sick, or in the midst of sorrow, and each time answers with “You are so good to me.” The song does not deny the difficulty. Instead, it places God’s goodness beside it and refuses to let hardship have the last word.
The idea of everything working out for good is close to Romans 8:28, and the declaration of his goodness echoes Psalm 34:8 and Psalm 136:1. The faithfulness in hard times recalls Lamentations 3:22-23. The tone is warm, grateful, and personal.
