About Chidinma
Chidinma Ekile, known as Chidinma, is a Nigerian gospel singer and Christian minister who rose to fame as a secular artist before transitioning to gospel music in 2021. She was born on May 2, 1991, in Ketu, Kosofe, Lagos State, Nigeria, and is a native of Imo State. The sixth of seven children, she began singing at age six and joined her church choir at age ten. She later earned a sociology degree from the University of Lagos.
Chidinma first gained widespread recognition in 2010 when she won the third season of the reality television show Project Fame West Africa. Her early career brought her several achievements, including winning Best Female West African Act at the 2012 Kora Awards. She also became the first female musician to reach number one on the MTV Base Official Naija Top 10 chart.
In May 2021, Chidinma publicly announced her transition from secular music to gospel music and Christian ministry. She signed with the gospel music label Eezee Conceptz and released the EP New Season later that year. The EP included the songs "Jehovah Overdo" and "Jesus the Son of God." She followed with the album Psalm 16 in 2022 and The Road Best Travelled in 2025.
