Tamela Mann - Change Me Lyrics

“Change Me” by Tamela Mann is a prayer for inner transformation. The opening lines ask God to change the singer, make her more like Him, and wash her through and through. The request is close to Psalm 51:10, “Create in me a clean heart, O God,” which the lyric echoes in nearly the same words: “Create in me a clean heart, so that I may worship You.”

The prayer is simple and repeated. The bridge rests on the plain phrase “I need You to change me,” sung again and again until the word “change” alone fills several lines. That repetition turns a short request into a sustained plea, with the singer admitting she cannot make the change herself.

The song ends with a line from the old hymn, “A wonderful change has come over me.” It reads as an answer to the prayer, bringing the thought from asking to testimony. Its focus is on cleansing, likeness to God, and worship from a clean heart.
