Meaning & Inspiration

“Hakuna Silaha” by Dr. Sarah K is a Swahili declaration based on the promise that no weapon formed against believers will succeed. The refrain “Hakuna silaha yeyote iliyotumwa kinyume chetu itakayofaulu” means “no weapon sent against us will succeed,” and it is close to Isaiah 54:17.

The verses widen the promise. Any weapon sent in one way or another will be scattered “kwa njia saba,” by seven ways, which recalls Deuteronomy 28:7, where enemies who come out one way flee seven ways. The lyric also lists words spoken by the living and the dead and by those under water and on dry land, and says they will not succeed.

The bridge anchors the claim in Scripture: “Neno la Mungu linasema hakuna,” “the word of God says there is none,” naming witchcraft and spiritual powers as things that will not succeed, and ends with an encouragement, “Usiogope, simama na neno la Mungu,” “do not fear, stand on the word of God.” The song’s tone is confidence in God’s protection.
