Lyrics
All my life sijaona mwaminifu akikosa mkate
All my life sijaona mwaminifu akikosa mkate
Hai nimechoka na vicheko, hai nimechoka na dharau
Sitojali hata jirani akipata kuniliko
Baba niokoe, Baba nishikilie,
Baba nisaidie, Baba nakuhitaji
Ni wako ni wako, nakwitaji ii
Ni wako ni wako, usiniache
Eloi Elohi lamasabakitani
Eloi Elohi lamasabakitani
Najiuliza kwa nini wateule twapitia majanga
Leo hii ni mimi kesho ni yule
Ninaomba bila kuchoka, situation bado ni same
Eloooi lamasabakitani, nakungojea Baba
Sema nami niko hapa, sema nami sibanduki kamwe
Ni wako ni wako, nakwitaji ii
Ni wako ni wako, usiniache
Eloi Elohi lamasabakitani
Eloi Elohi lamasabakitani
Uooh usiniache Baba aah,
Usiniach nanaa nanaah
Ni wako ni wako, nakwitaji ii
Ni wako ni wako, usiniache
Eloi Elohi lamasabakitani
Eloi Elohi lamasabakitani
Unikumbuke Baba usiniwache
Mimi wako Baba ninaomba
Eloi Eloi ...

Meaning & Inspiration
“Eloi Eloi” is a Swahili prayer from a place of prolonged distress. The singer asks why faithful people pass through hardship and pleads for the Father’s help, presence, and remembrance. Its opening thought about the faithful not lacking bread recalls the psalmist’s witness to God’s care. Yet the lyric does not hide exhaustion, ridicule, unanswered questions, or the strain of praying while circumstances remain unchanged.
The repeated cry “Eloi” draws on Jesus’ words from the cross, giving the lament a biblical vocabulary for feeling forsaken. Even so, the song continues to address God as Father and repeatedly declares belonging to him. The requests “hold me,” “help me,” and “do not leave me” turn anguish into persistent prayer rather than abandonment of faith. Its central movement is therefore from pain toward dependence: the situation may still be the same, but the singer remains before God, waiting for him to speak and refusing to move away.
