Ruth Matete

Ruth Matete is a Kenyan gospel singer and minister who has served as a worship leader in church. Born in 1986, she was raised in Kakamega and Nairobi, and she is the daughter of actor Abel Amunga.

She first gained public recognition as the winner of Tusker Project Fame season 5 in 2012. In the same year and the following year, she received Groove Awards, marking early recognition of her musical gift. Her catalog includes songs such as “Damu Yako,” “Nakupenda,” “Mapenzi,” “Ndoa,” and a cover of “Jina la Yesu.”

Matete has publicly identified herself as a minister of the gospel and has continued to share her music within a worship context. She later relocated to Canada, where she has continued her spiritual and musical journey.
