Lyrics
When you turn the lights on
Everything in hidden in darkness will scatter
When you stepped into my heart
Everything changed from the moment you came in
I will move
Wherever you want me to move
Come and be
The center of my every room
Your grace finds me in chaos
And fills up all of my fault lines
Come shine through all of my fractures
And let your love be the spotlight
Your love is a spotlight
Your love is a spotlight
You run straight to our rescue
The kindness that my heart has never encountered
All my ruins you made new
Building me better than I was before
I will move
Wherever you want me to move
Come and be
The center of my every room
Your grace finds me in chaos
And fills up all of my fault lines
Come shine through all of my fractures
And let your love be the spotlight
Your love is a spotlight
Your love is a spotlight
Shine on me

Meaning & Inspiration
Spotlight uses images of light, rooms, fractures, and rebuilding to describe a life opened to divine grace. Darkness scatters when Christ enters, and hidden areas are brought into view. The request for him to occupy every room expresses surrender rather than a demand for easy circumstances. Chaos and fault lines remain visible, yet grace is pictured as reaching those damaged places and allowing love to shine through them.
The light imagery is consistent with John 1:5, where light shines in darkness and is not overcome by it. The appeal for Christ to become the center also reflects the priority given to him in Colossians 1:18. Rescue, kindness, and renewal shape the second half of the lyric, presenting restoration as something received rather than self-produced. Its spotlight metaphor therefore points away from personal display and toward divine love. The repeated prayer to move wherever Christ directs gives the song a clear worship focus centered on guidance, grace, and renewal.
