Meaning & Inspiration

Rejoice O Israel is a song of hope for the return of Messiah to Jerusalem. The opening beholds a city on a hill and a nation torn by war, where Adonai says His grace has been poured forth, and a people waiting for their Lord who will come with trumpet sounds as nations watch in awe. The chorus greets Jerusalem with Shalom and says Messiah will wipe away tears and pain, calling the daughter of Zion to rejoice.

The second chorus prays for peace within the walls and says Yeshua will return to reign in majesty and power, and the bridge pictures the Son of God descending from the clouds arrayed in light. The imagery draws on Zechariah 9:9, Psalm 122:6-7, Revelation 21:4, Matthew 24:30 and 1 Thessalonians 4:16. The Hebrew words Adonai, Shalom and Yeshua give the song a Messianic Jewish flavor, and the repeated choruses carry its message of expectant joy.
