Lyrics

Chorus (x2)

Ha hallelujah
Ha hallelujah
Praise the Lord, hallelujah
Worthy is the Lamb

Verse 1

Here in the presence of the greatest king
The faithful one and the amen
The only reason we have come to sing
Hallelujah to the great I am
The perfect sacrifice that was slain
Who signed redemption's cheque with his blood
We raise the sound in honour of his name
Hallelujah from the rescued ones

Chorus (x2)

Ha hallelujah
Ha hallelujah
Praise the Lord, hallelujah
Worthy is the Lamb

Verse 2

This is the victory song of the saints
From every nation, tribe, every tongue
The roar of Judah's Lion shall we heard
Hallelujah, is the song of thanks
The perfect sacrifice that was slain
Who signed redemption's cheque with his blood
We raise the sound in honour of his name
Hallelujah from the rescued ones

Chorus (x6)

Ha hallelujah
Ha hallelujah
Praise the Lord, hallelujah
Worthy is the Lamb

Chorus (Repeat)

Ha hallelujah (hallelujah, hallelujah...)
Ha hallelujah
Praise the Lord, hallelujah
Worthy is the Lamb
Ha hallelujah (hallelujah, hallelujah...)
Ha hallelujah
Praise the Lord, hallelujah
Worthy is the Lamb

Chorus (x2)

Ha hallelujah
Ha hallelujah
Praise the Lord, hallelujah
Worthy is the Lamb

Meaning & Inspiration

“Hallelujah Praise The Lord” by Nathaniel Bassey is built on a four-line refrain that repeats many times: “Ha hallelujah… Praise the Lord, hallelujah… Worthy is the Lamb.” The verses supply the reasons for the praise. They describe standing “in the presence of the greatest king,” and name the faithful one, the amen, the “great I am,” and the “perfect sacrifice that was slain” who “signed redemption’s cheque.”

The second verse widens the scene to a victory song of the saints “from every nation, tribe, every tongue,” with the roar of Judah’s Lion heard. That language is close to Revelation 5:5, 5:9 and 5:12, where the Lion of Judah is also the Lamb who was slain and is worthy of praise from every people.

Because most of the song is the repeated chorus, it works as a sustained act of congregational praise rather than a story. A short stretch near the end holds on “Worthy is the Lamb” alone, keeping attention on Christ’s sacrifice and worth.
