Verse 1

Nitamsifu Bwana wakati wote, majira yote
Nitaimba fadhili zake, mchana na usiku
Sifa zake zi kinywani mwangu daima
Hekaluni mwake nitasujudu daima

Verse 2

Nitamsifu Bwana wakati wote, majira yote
Nitaimba fadhili zake, mchana na usiku
Sifa zake zi kinywani mwangu daima
Hekaluni mwake nitasujudu daima

Verse 3

Maana kusifu, kunawapaswa
Wanyoofu wa moyo
Mimi na nyumba yangu
Tutamsifu Bwana siku zote

Chorus

Leo nimeamua
Mimi na nyumba yangu
Tutamtumikia Bwana

Nataka mtaani wajue
Taifa langu wajue
Tutamtumikia Bwana

Marafiki nao wajue
Majirani nao wajue
Tutamtumikia Bwana

Bridge

Sitarudi nyuma
Wala sitatazama yaliyopita
Hata shetani akinikumbusha
Nitamuonyesha ukurasa mpya

Nitasonga mbele na Yesu
Wala sitaacha familia nyuma
Nitasonga mbele na Yesu
Yesu

Nitatangaza sifa zake
Mbele ya mataifa yote
Sifa zake na zijulikane
Kwa wote eeh

Chorus

Leo nimeamua
Mimi na nyumba yangu
Tutamtumikia Bwana

Nataka mtaani wajue
Taifa langu wajue
Tutamtumikia Bwana

Marafiki nao wajue
Majirani nao wajue
Tutamtumikia Bwana

Chorus

Leo nimeamua
Mimi na nyumba yangu
Tutamtumikia Bwana

Nataka mtaani wajue
Taifa langu wajue
Tutamtumikia Bwana

Marafiki nao wajue
Majirani nao wajue
Tutamtumikia Bwana

Meaning & Inspiration

Mercy Masika's "Nitamsifu" is a Swahili song of praise and household commitment. The title means "I will praise Him," and the opening lines take their wording from Psalm 34: praise on the lips at all times, kindness sung about by day and by night, and bowing in the temple always.

The chorus echoes Joshua's declaration, "Leo nimeamua, mimi na nyumba yangu, tutamtumikia Bwana", meaning today the singer and the family have decided to serve the Lord. The song then widens the circle: the neighbourhood, the nation, friends and neighbours should all know about that decision.

The bridge adds a pledge not to turn back or look at the past, even when the enemy brings it up, and to move ahead with Jesus while keeping the family together. It ends with a vow to make His praise known among all nations. The page lists the verses, the repeated chorus and the bridge in the recorded order, ready for choirs and home groups singing in Swahili.
