Meaning & Inspiration
“Seek Ye First” by Maranatha! Music is a short scripture song that sets words from the Sermon on the Mount to a simple refrain. The opening lines, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you,” come from Matthew 6:33.
The second verse says that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God, which is the answer Jesus gave in Matthew 4:4, quoting Deuteronomy 8:3. The third verse says, “Ask and it shall be given unto you, seek and ye shall find, knock and the door shall be opened unto you,” from Matthew 7:7.
