Meaning & Inspiration
Revive is a testimony of being brought from spiritual deadness to new life. The verses recall searching for light in dark times and longing for something that satisfies, and then a new life in every step with nothing comparing to life in God. The chorus says that when the singer was dead inside, His heart brought life, and what was cold and dark was breathed into the light, so the singer comes alive.
The third verse names Jesus as the name that brings the dead to life and the rescuer who resurrects by power. The pre-chorus says the singer cannot breathe without Him. The imagery follows Ephesians 2:4-5, Ezekiel 37:5-6 on breath bringing life, John 11:25 and Psalm 85:6, which asks "Will you not revive us again?"
