Lyrics
Jesus be the center
Be my source be my light Jesus
Jesus be the center
Be my hope
Be my song Jesus
Be the fire in my heart
Be the wind in my sails
Be the reason that I live
Jesus, Jesus
Jesus be my vision
Be my help
Be my guide Jesus

Meaning & Inspiration
Be the Centre is a direct prayer for Jesus to occupy the defining place in every part of life. The lyric names him as source, light, hope, and song, gathering several forms of dependence into a single request. Its language is simple, but the sequence is carefully focused: inner life, direction, purpose, and expression are all placed under Christ’s leadership.
The images of fire in the heart and wind in the sails portray energy and direction that come from beyond the self. When the song asks Jesus to be vision, help, and guide, it also reflects the biblical call to trust the Lord for the path ahead. The repeated name of Jesus keeps the prayer personal and worshipful. Rather than celebrating achievement, the lyric confesses that meaning, movement, and hope are found in Christ, making it especially suited to worship centered on surrender and God’s presence.
