Lyrics
Secretos que guardar
Y temores que enfrentar
Nuestra identidad
No es la oscuridad
Somos hijos de la luz
Vamos ya levantate
Tu mision suprema es
Toda sombra deja atras
Usa bien el tiempo que hay
Tu y yo somos la luz
La luz que al mundo hace brillar
Tu y yo somos la luz
Mas alto , mas alto , mas alto brillaremos
Brillaremos, brillaremos
Es el tiempo de anunciar
El evangelio de la paz
Que hay vida, libertad
Y amor sin igual
En el nombre de Jesus
Tu y yo somos la luz
La luz que al mundo hace brillar
Tu y yo somos la luz
Mas alto, mas alto, mas alto brillaremos
Somos la luz, somos la luz
Somos la luz
al mundo brillaremos
Somos la luz, somos la luz
Somos la luz
Cristo
Tu eres la luz, tu eres la luz
Tu eres la luz te exaltaremos
Mas, mas, mas
Tu y yo somos la luz
La luz que al mundo hace brillar
Tu y yo somos la luz
Mas alto, mas alto, mas alto brillaremos
Somos la luz, somos la luz
Somos la luz

Meaning & Inspiration
“Somos la Luz” calls believers to live openly in the identity Christ gives them. The opening lines contrast hidden fears and secrets with belonging to the light, then urge a decisive departure from darkness. Its repeated declaration, “Somos la luz,” presents Christian witness as something visible: a life that shines before the world rather than remaining concealed. The lyrics connect that witness with wise use of time, freedom, love, and the name of Jesus.
The song then turns outward with a call to announce the gospel of peace. That emphasis joins identity and mission, suggesting that light is displayed both through faithful living and through proclamation of Christ. The central image closely echoes Jesus’ words in Matthew 5 about his followers being the light of the world. Ephesians also describes believers as light in the Lord and calls them to live accordingly. Christ remains the source of that light, receiving the song’s final exaltation as its message rises from encouragement to worship.
