Meaning & Inspiration
“Raboni” by Judikay is a short, repeated worship song built on the Aramaic title Mary Magdalene used when she recognized the risen Jesus in John 20:16. The song takes that word and makes it a personal confession: “Raboni, You are my Lord, You are my Master.” The title itself means teacher or master, and the lyric states it as plainly as possible.
Alongside it runs a second refrain, “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, You are my own, lead me on, lead me on.” This turns the confession into a request for guidance, asking the Master whom the singer follows to keep leading. The two refrains alternate through the song with little else added.
The repetition gives the song a devotional, meditative character, closer to a prayer sung over and over than to a story. Its message is trust and submission: the one called Lord and Master is also the one who leads. The idea is close to John 10:27, where the sheep hear the shepherd’s voice and follow.
