Meaning & Inspiration
I Shall See Him is centered on the Christian hope of beholding Christ face to face. Its repeated declaration carries confidence that faith will give way to sight, while the references to streets of gold and final rest place that hope within the biblical picture of God’s restored creation. The confession that Jesus is Lord also echoes the promised day when every tongue will acknowledge him.
The bridge identifies Christ as the Lamb who was slain to redeem humanity and who will return. That language aligns closely with Revelation’s vision of the Lamb and keeps the song’s expectation rooted in redemption rather than mere longing for heaven. Repetition in the choruses and vamps strengthens the central confession: the singer expects to behold Christ personally and reign with him. The song therefore joins resurrection hope, worship, and perseverance, looking beyond present life toward communion with the risen Lord in the beauty of his holiness.
