Lyrics
It could be a hungry hand begging on a street
Of a stranger you don't know
It could be a lonely heart calling in the night
From a friend desperately alone
Oh, you can look away
And pretend you don't see
But what would it cost you
To do the right thing, yes
Do the right thing
What if we go the extra mile
Every day of our lives
What if the world changed in ways
We wouldn't recognize
And what if we give more
So that there's enough to go around
Would we find ourselves on higher ground
What if, oh, what if we go the extra mile
It could be a crying child orphaned by a war
In a country you've never been before
It could be a dyng man ravaged by disease
With nobody there to comfort him
Oh, you can look away
And pretend you don't see
But what would it cost you
To do the right thing, yes
Do the right thing
What if we go the extra mile
Every day of our lives
What if the world changed
In ways we wouldn't recognize
And what if we give more
So that there's enough to go around
Would we find ourselves on higher ground
What if, oh, what if we go the extra mile
Oh, what if it was you
Suffering the stress and the strife
Reeling from the troubles of your life
Wouldn't you want someone by your side
What if we go the extra mile
Every day of our lives
What if the world changed
In ways we wouldn't recognize
And what if we give more
So that there's enough to go around
Would we find ourselves on higher ground
What if, oh, what if we go the extra mile
(Go, go, go the extra mile)
Oh, what if we go the extra mile
(Go, go, go the extra mile, ooh...)
