Lyrics

Because God is the greatest power

We shall never, never be defeated

Because God is the greatest power

We shall never, never be defeated

Because God is the greatest power

We shall never, never be defeated

I shall rise I shall be

I shall go with victory

No weapon formed against me

Will ever overtake me

Devil is a liar God is exhalted

Never be defeated Never be defeated

Devil is a liar God is exhalted

Never be defeated Never be defeated

Devil is a liar God is exhalted

Never be defeated Never be defeated

Overflow in this place

Have Your way in this place

We want more in this place

Have Your way

We can't walk without You

We can't talk without You

We can't live without You

Have Your way

If it's not pleasing to You

Take it out of me

If it's not pleasing to You

Take it out of me

If it's not pleasing to You

Take it out of me

Have Your way

Ooohhh We want You to

Have Your way

Meaning & Inspiration

Never Defeated + Have Your Way joins a declaration of God’s unrivaled power with a prayer of surrender. The opening lines answer opposition with confidence that defeat does not have the final word because God is greater. Images of rising, walking in victory, and surviving weapons formed against the believer draw especially close to Isaiah’s promise that no weapon fashioned against God’s servants will succeed.

The second movement shifts from triumph to dependence. Requests for God to overflow in the place, remove what is displeasing, and have His way present victory as more than personal strength. The lyric locates it in God’s presence and in submission to His rule. John 15 also offers a fitting connection to the admission that life and action are impossible apart from God, while Psalm 139 reflects the prayer for anything offensive to be exposed and removed. Together, the two parts balance confidence with humility: God is able to overcome opposition, and His people respond by yielding every area of life to Him.

Related Scripture

  • Isaiah 54:17 The promise that no weapon formed against God’s servants will prevail is directly echoed in the lyric.
  • John 15:5 Jesus teaches that apart from Him His followers can do nothing, matching the song’s confession of dependence.
  • Psalm 139:23-24 The psalm asks God to search the heart and remove any offensive way, aligning with the prayer for cleansing.
