Meaning & Inspiration
“Jesus All Along” by Franni Cash is a testimony of being rescued. The first verse describes a life that was barely existing, with a faint spark and “all smoke and no flame,” while lies grew louder until a whisper cut through. The singer says she knew the voice before she knew a name.
The chorus names the rescuer: somebody saved a lost cause when she was barely breathing, gave her a song, and it was Jesus all along. The second verse draws on the story of the prodigal, with a love that leaves no soul in the cold and a light left on for the one who stumbled back home, which is close to Luke 15:20-24. Being called a child recalls 1 John 3:1.
