Evie - The Lord Is My Strength Lyrics

The Lord Is My Strength takes a direct biblical confession and gives it a simple, repeated musical form. Each return to the words about strength, song, and salvation keeps attention on God as both the source of endurance and the reason for praise. The lyric does not describe a particular crisis. Instead, it offers a compact declaration suited to many circumstances in which faith needs to remember who God is and what he has done.

The wording closely follows several passages of Scripture. Exodus 15:2 appears in the song of Moses after deliverance through the sea, joining strength and song with salvation. Isaiah 12:2 repeats the same confession in a prophetic hymn of trust, and Psalm 118:14 uses nearly identical language in thanksgiving for deliverance. Those parallels give the brief lyric substantial biblical depth. Repetition works much like a congregational refrain, allowing the confession to be learned and shared. The central emphasis remains steady throughout: salvation belongs to the Lord, human strength is not ultimate, and gratitude naturally becomes song.
