About Audrey Assad
Audrey Nicole Assad is an American singer-songwriter who established her career within contemporary Christian music. She was born on July 1, 1983, and raised in a Plymouth Brethren religious household. In 2007, she converted to Roman Catholicism, a shift that would later inform her musical and personal journey.
Her professional debut came with the 2009 EP Firefly, followed by her first full-length album, The House You're Building, released in 2010. The album was named Amazon.com's Best Christian Music of 2010 and iTunes Christian & Gospel Breakthrough Album of the Year. That same year, Assad received Dove Award nominations for New Artist of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year. She toured and collaborated with prominent CCM artists including Chris Tomlin, Tenth Avenue North, and Matt Maher.
Assad continued to release music in the following years, including the albums Heart (2012), Fortunate Fall (2013), and Evergreen (2018). She also co-owned the label Fortunate Fall Records. Her catalog includes songs such as "Winter Snow" and "Unfolding." In 2021, she publicly announced that she was no longer a practicing Christian, marking a significant turn in her personal and artistic narrative.
