Meaning & Inspiration
Thank God For This is a simple song of thanksgiving for everything in life. The chorus repeats thanks to God for this and that, for every moment, for the people in the singer's life, for now, and for everything He has brought about. The verses give thanks for the morning and the light, the good days and the ones that were not right, because every one brought the singer to today.
Later verses thank God for people who stayed when it was hard, for healing of scars, for laughter and tears, and for the small things like quiet Sunday mornings. The theme fits 1 Thessalonians 5:18 on giving thanks in all circumstances, Psalm 103:2 on not forgetting His benefits, Psalm 118:24, and James 1:17 on every good gift. The plain repeated phrases create a grateful, reflective mood, and the song is easy for a group to join without preparation.
