“You Dey See Me (El Roi)” by Deola Rae is a prayer of comfort built on the name El Roi, “the God who sees,” which Hagar gave to the Lord in Genesis 16:13. The chorus, partly in Nigerian Pidgin, repeats “You dey see me, you dey cover me, you sabi me, you dey fight for me,” saying that God sees, covers, knows, and fights for the singer.
