Lyrics

Verse 1

My boat of life sails on a troubled sea
Whenever there's a wind in my sail.
But I have a friend who watches over me
When the breeze turns into a gale.

Chorus

I know the Master of the wind.
I know the Maker of the rain.
He can calm a storm, make the sun shine again.
I know the Master of the wind.

Verse 2

Sometimes I soar like an eagle through the sky
Above the peaks my soul can be found.
An unexpected storm may drive me from the heights
Brings me low, but never brings me down.

Meaning & Inspiration

“Master of the Wind” by Candy Christmas uses a boat on a troubled sea to describe a life in changing weather. The first verse says the singer’s boat sails when the wind is in the sail, but that the breeze can turn into a gale, and it names a friend who watches over them through it. The chorus gives that friend a name: “I know the Master of the wind, I know the Maker of the rain.”

The image recalls Mark 4:39, where Jesus rebukes the wind and calms the sea, and the line “He can calm a storm, make the sun shine again” sums up that scene. The second verse shifts to flight, with the singer soaring “like an eagle through the sky” and then being driven from the heights by an unexpected storm that “brings me low, but never brings me down.” The eagle picture is close to Isaiah 40:31.

The lyric admits both high and low points. It keeps one steady claim: the One who rules the elements also knows the singer personally.
