Lyrics

Chorus

Come and make my heart Your home.
Come and be everything I am and all I know.
Search me through and through 'till my heart becomes a home for You.

Verse 1

A home for You, Lord.
A home for You, Lord.
Let everything I do open up,
A door for You to come through,
And that my heart would be a place where You want to be.

Chorus (Repeat)

Verse 2

You are my portion, filling up everything.
You are the fortune that's causing my heart to sing.
That it's amazing, that You could make Yourself at home with me.

Chorus 2

Come and make my heart,
Come and make it Your home.
Come and be everything I am and all I know.
Search me through and through 'till my heart becomes a home for You.

Meaning & Inspiration

“My Heart, Your Home” uses the image of a home to express welcome, surrender, and abiding communion with God. The opening request asks God to search every part of the singer’s life until the heart becomes a fitting dwelling place. Daily actions are pictured as doors through which God’s presence may enter, linking inward devotion with outward conduct. The lyric’s language is intimate, yet its focus remains on yielding the whole self rather than seeking a passing emotional experience.

The prayer to be searched closely echoes Psalm 139:23–24, where the psalmist asks God to examine the heart and lead in the everlasting way. Its description of God as the singer’s portion also recalls Psalm 73:26. The home imagery may further be connected with Ephesians 3:17, which speaks of Christ dwelling in hearts through faith. Across its repeated lines, the song turns worship into an invitation for lasting residence: thoughts, identity, knowledge, and actions are opened to God’s transforming presence.
