Living Water contrasts temporary sources of satisfaction with the life Jesus gives. Wells, cups, rivers, rain, dry ground, and thirst form a sustained picture of spiritual need. The singer approaches God as desperate and empty, asking for living water to fill the soul, bring wholeness, forgive sin, and begin new life. Even the image of dry bones reinforces the movement from death toward restoration.
The central language closely follows the conversation between Jesus and the Samaritan woman, where ordinary water is contrasted with water that becomes a spring of eternal life. The invitation to the thirsty also recalls Jesus’ public call for thirsty people to come to him and drink.
