About Donnie McClurkin

Donnie McClurkin is an American gospel singer, minister, and the senior pastor of Perfecting Faith Church in Freeport, New York. Born Donald Andrew McClurkin Jr. on November 9, 1959, in Copiague, New York, he began his musical journey as a teenager by forming the McClurkin Singers. He later founded the New York Restoration Choir and spent over a decade serving as an associate minister at Perfecting Church in Detroit, Michigan, under Pastor Marvin Winans.


McClurkin released his self-titled debut solo album, Donnie McClurkin, in 1996. The album and his subsequent recordings established him as a leading voice in gospel music. Among his notable releases are Live in London and More… (2000), Again (2003), Psalms, Hymns and Spiritual Songs (2005), We All Are One (Live in Detroit) (2008), and A Different Song (2019). His catalog includes well-known songs such as “We Fall Down” and “I Call You Faithful.” Over his career, he has sold more than 10 million albums worldwide.


In addition to his recording career, McClurkin has worked in broadcast and television. He hosted a radio program titled The Donnie McClurkin Show, which launched in 2006, and served as a judge on the BET reality competition show Sunday Best. His contributions to gospel music have been recognized with multiple awards, including three Grammy Awards, ten Stellar Awards, four BET Awards, two Soul Train Awards, three Dove Awards, and four NAACP Image Awards.
