Bony Mwaitege

Boniphace Patson Mwaitege, known as Bony Mwaitege, is a Tanzanian gospel singer, songwriter, and pastor. He was born in July 1983 in Mwakaleli Mbea, Tanzania. Growing up as the eldest of thirteen children, he completed his primary education at Itela Primary School. Before his music career, Mwaitege worked a variety of jobs, including fisherman, barber, charcoal burner, and gold miner.

He began his music career as a dancer and backup vocalist in Ephraim Mwarisasu’s band. In 2010, he released his debut solo album, Mama ni Mama. The album helped establish his presence in Tanzanian gospel music. He later released the albums Tunapendwa na Mungu (2017) and Utanitambuaje, along with songs such as “Mke Wangu,” “Fungua Moyo Wako,” “Nisamehe,” “Njoo Ufanyiwe,” and “Safari Bado.” In 2014, he received the Groove Awards East Africa Best Male Artist award.

Beyond music, Mwaitege founded the Safina Assemblies of God church in Dar es Salaam in 2006. He also ventured into acting, starring in the film Mama ni Mama in 2015. He married Miss Subiranga in September 2008, and the couple has two children. Through his music and ministry, Bony Mwaitege continues to share his faith and personal journey with his audience.
