Angela Chibalonza

Angela Chibalonza Runiga (1976–2007) was a Congolese-born gospel singer who established her career in Kenya. She was born on November 26, 1976, in Bukavu, Democratic Republic of the Congo. She became a Christian in 1992 and served as a choir leader in her church. In 1997, she moved to Kenya to pursue her music career, citing a call from God.

Her music was characterized by a fusion of Congolese and Kenyan gospel styles, often sung in Kiswahili, Lingala, and French. She released several songs, including Nikuabudu (1997), Jina la Yesu (1998), Mwisho wa Dunia (1999), Ninapotembea, Yahwe Uhimidiwe, Jubilee, and Nimekutana na Yesu. In 2004, she was nominated for Best Gospel Female Artist at the Kora All Africa Music Awards.

Angela married Pastor Elisha Muliri in 2003. Her life was cut short when she died in a road accident on the Naivasha-Nairobi highway on September 22, 2007, at the age of 30. Her work remains a part of the East African gospel music landscape.
