Lyrics
Hmmm
Hmm
You're the reason why I smile
In the middle of a storm
You're the reason why I dance
Even when it's raining
You're the reason I don't fear
No hurt or harm
Hmm
And when there's no song to sing
I'll just keep singing ee
Let the band play
Hmmm
Play on! Play on! Play on!
Hmmm
Play on! Play on! Play on!
Oooh
It's something about this
That makes me dance
It's something about this
That makes me clap my hands
You're the reason why I smile
In the middle of a storm
You're the reason why I dance
Even when it's raining
You're the reason I don't fear
No hurt or harm
And when there's no song to sing
I'll just keep singing
In the morning when I wake up
I just say:
God's got me
And I'll sing this tune
In the afternoon
God's got me
In the evening time
I'll just remind myself
God's got me
We say:
All night all-day
I'll just say
God's got me
Feels so good to be loved by you
You got me and I've got you
Yeah eh eh
Yeah!
Let me hear you say it
God's got me
I dance to the rhythm
Cause I know it's true
You got me and I've got you
Yeah eh eh
Yeah!
Let me hear you say it
God's got me
In the morning when I wake up
I just say
God's got me
And I sing this tune
In the afternoon
God's got me
In the evening time
I'll just remind myself
God's got me
All night all-day
I'll just say
God's got me
Hmm
Feels so good to be loved by you
You got me and I've got you
Yeah eh eh
Yeah!
Let me hear you say it
God's got me
Uh uh
I dance to the rhythm
Cause I know it's true
You got me and I've got you
Yeah eh eh
Yeah!
Let me hear you say it
God's got me
All night all-day
Angels are watching over
Me my Lord
All night all-day
Angels
Are watching
Over me
I know you've got me covered
I know you've got me covered
I know you've got me covered
I know you've got me covered
I know
I know
I know you've got me covered
I know you've got me covered
God's got me
All night all-day
Angels are watching over
Me my Lord
All night all-day
Angels are watching
Over me
(I know you got me covered...)
In the morning when I wake up
I just say
God's got me
And I sing this tune
In the afternoon
God's got me
In the evening time
I'll just remind myself
God's got me
All night all-day
I'll just say
God's got me...

Meaning & Inspiration
Gods Got Me centers on assurance of divine care in every part of the day. Storms and rain remain present in the lyric, but fear does not control its response. Smiling, dancing, clapping, and continued singing become signs of trust when circumstances offer no obvious song. The recurring title phrase condenses that trust into a brief confession: the singer believes that God provides protection and loving attention through morning, afternoon, evening, and night.
The later refrain about angels watching draws the theme closer to biblical promises of Gods keeping. Psalm 121 speaks of the Lord guarding life and watching over every departure and return, while Psalm 91 describes angels commanded to guard those who take refuge in God. Those passages support the songs language of being covered without requiring an absence of trouble. Repetition gives the confession a steady, communal rhythm, moving from personal reassurance to an invitation for other voices to affirm the same confidence in Gods care.
