Mimi ndimi mzabibu wa kweli, na Baba yangu ndiye mkulima.
“I am the true vine, and My Father is the keeper of the vineyard.

Kila tawi ndani yangu lisilozaa huliondoa; na kila tawi lizaalo hulisafisha, ili lizidi kuzaa.
He cuts off every branch in Me that bears no fruit, and every branch that does bear fruit, He prunes to make it even more fruitful.

Ninyi mmekwisha kuwa safi kwa sababu ya lile neno nililowaambia.
You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.

Kaeni ndani yangu, nami ndani yenu. Kama vile tawi lisivyoweza kuzaa peke yake, lisipokaa ndani ya mzabibu; kadhalika nanyi, msipokaa ndani yangu.
Remain in Me, and I will remain in you. Just as no branch can bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine, neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in Me.

Mimi ni mzabibu; ninyi ni matawi, akaaye ndani yangu nami ndani yake, huyo huzaa sana; maana pasipo mimi ninyi hamwezi kufanya neno lo lote.
I am the vine and you are the branches. The one who remains in Me, and I in him, will bear much fruit. For apart from Me you can do nothing.

Mtu asipokaa ndani yangu, hutupwa nje kama tawi na kunyauka; watu huyakusanya na kuyatupa motoni yakateketea.
If anyone does not remain in Me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers. Such branches are gathered up, thrown into the fire, and burned.

Ninyi mkikaa ndani yangu, na maneno yangu yakikaa ndani yenu, ombeni mtakalo lote nanyi mtatendewa.
If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

Hivyo hutukuzwa Baba yangu, kwa vile mzaavyo sana; nanyi mtakuwa wanafunzi wangu.
This is to My Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, proving yourselves to be My disciples.

Kama vile Baba alivyonipenda mimi, nami nilivyowapenda ninyi, kaeni katika pendo langu.
As the Father has loved Me, so have I loved you. Remain in My love.

Mkizishika amri zangu, mtakaa katika pendo langu; kama vile mimi nilivyozishika amri za Baba yangu na kukaa katika pendo lake.
If you keep My commandments, you will remain in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and remain in His love.

Hayo nimewaambia, ili furaha yangu iwe ndani yenu, na furaha yenu itimizwe.
I have told you these things so that My joy may be in you and your joy may be complete.

Amri yangu ndiyo hii, Mpendane, kama nilivyowapenda ninyi.
This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.

Hakuna aliye na upendo mwingi kuliko huu, wa mtu kuutoa uhai wake kwa ajili ya rafiki zake.
Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.
14
Ninyi mmekuwa rafiki zangu, mkitenda niwaamuruyo.
You are My friends if you do what I command you.
15
Siwaiti tena watumwa; kwa maana mtumwa hajui atendalo bwana wake; lakini ninyi nimewaita rafiki; kwa kuwa yote niliyoyasikia kwa Baba yangu nimewaarifu.
No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not understand what his master is doing. But I have called you friends, because everything I have learned from My Father I have made known to you.

Si ninyi mlionichagua mimi, bali ni mimi niliyewachagua ninyi; nami nikawaweka mwende mkazae matunda; na matunda yenu yapate kukaa; ili kwamba lo lote mmwombalo Baba kwa jina langu awapeni.
You did not choose Me, but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear fruit—fruit that will remain—so that whatever you ask the Father in My name, He will give you.

Haya nawaamuru ninyi, mpate kupendana.
This is My command to you: Love one another.
18
Iwapo ulimwengu ukiwachukia, mwajua ya kuwa umenichukia mimi kabla ya kuwachukia ninyi.
If the world hates you, understand that it hated Me first.
19
Kama mngekuwa wa ulimwengu, ulimwengu ungewapenda walio wake; lakini kwa kuwa ninyi si wa ulimwengu, bali mimi naliwachagua katika ulimwengu, kwa sababu hiyo ulimwengu huwachukia.
If you were of the world, it would love you as its own. Instead, the world hates you, because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world.

Likumbukeni lile neno nililowaambia, Mtumwa si mkubwa kuliko bwana wake. Ikiwa waliniudhi mimi, watawaudhi ninyi; ikiwa walilishika neno langu watalishika na lenu.
Remember the word that I spoke to you: ‘No servant is greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will persecute you as well; if they kept My word, they will keep yours as well.

Lakini haya yote watawatenda kwa ajili ya jina langu, kwa kuwa hawamjui yeye aliyenipeleka.
But they will treat you like this because of My name, since they do not know the One who sent Me.
22
Kama nisingalikuja na kusema nao, wasingalikuwa na dhambi; lakini sasa hawana udhuru kwa dhambi yao.
If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin. Now, however, they have no excuse for their sin.

Yeye anichukiaye mimi humchukia na Baba yangu.
Whoever hates Me hates My Father as well.
24
Kama nisingalitenda kwao kazi asizozitenda mtu mwingine, wasingalikuwa na dhambi; lakini sasa wametuona mimi na Baba yangu, na kutuchukia.
If I had not done among them the works that no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin; but now they have seen and hated both Me and My Father.

Lakini litimie lile neno lililoandikwa katika torati yao, Walinichukia bure.
But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: ‘They hated Me without reason.’

Lakini ajapo huyo Msaidizi, nitakayewapelekea kutoka kwa Baba, huyo Roho wa kweli atokaye kwa Baba, yeye atanishuhudia.
When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father—He will testify about Me.

Nanyi pia mnashuhudia, kwa kuwa tangu mwanzo mmekuwapo pamoja nami.
And you also must testify, because you have been with Me from the beginning.
