Lyrics

Chorus

Lord, do it for me
Oh, Lord, do it for me
Lord, if You don't do it
It just won't be done
So, Lord, do it for me

Verse 1

Sometimes I get desperate and I say like this
I say, "Lord, fix it for me"
Anybody know that only God can do it?
Oh, fix it for me
Oh, thank You, Jesus
Because, Lord, I have a problem that only You can solve
So, Lord, do it for me

Chorus (Repeat)

Lord, do it for me
Lord, I need You to do it right now
I can't wait 'til tomorrow
Do it for me, oh
Lord, if You don't do it
It just won't be done
So, Lord, do it for me

Verse 2

Lord, fix it for me
Oh, Jesus, fix it for me
Lord, I have a problem

Chorus (Repeat)

Oh, Lord, do it for me
Lord, if You don't do it
It just won't be done
So, Lord, do it for me

Chorus (Repeat)

Lord, do it for me
Oh, Lord, do it for me
Lord, I need You here
I don't wanna wait 'til tomorrow
Oh, Lord, do it for me
Lord, if You don't do it
It just won't be done
So, Lord, do it for me

Meaning & Inspiration

“Lord Do It for Me” by Zacardi Cortez is a plain, repeated prayer from someone who has reached the limit of their own ability. The chorus states the need in a few words: “Lord, if You don’t do it, it just won’t be done.” That line admits that the problem is one only God can solve, and the singer asks Him to do it directly.

The verse is honest about desperation. The singer says that sometimes he gets desperate, asks God to fix it, and turns to the listeners to ask if they know that only God can do it. A short “thank You, Jesus” in the middle shows trust mixed with urgency, and later lines say he cannot wait until tomorrow.

The prayer is close to Psalm 121:1-2, which looks to the Lord for help, and to Philippians 4:6, which invites bringing requests to God. Psalm 57:2 speaks of crying out to God who fulfills his purpose for the speaker. The song is mostly repetition, which gives it the feel of a congregational altar prayer.
