About Zacardi Cortez
Zacardi Cortez is a gospel musician and Christian artist who rose from the Texas gospel circuit to become a prominent solo voice in contemporary gospel music. Born Zacardi Renye Louis Cortez on September 17, 1985, in Houston, Texas, he began singing at age five and performed alongside his family in the group The Cortez Singers. His spiritual and musical development was shaped under the mentorship of gospel veteran John P. Kee.
Cortez gained early national attention as a member of James Fortune & FIYA, contributing to songs including “The Blood” and “I Believe.” He launched his solo career in 2012 with the album The Introduction, followed by Reloaded (2014) and Imprint (Live in Memphis) (2022). His catalog includes the singles “One More Time” (featuring John P. Kee), “God Held Me (Together),” “YDIA,” “1-On-1,” “You’ve Been Good to Me,” and “Lord Do It Again.” He has achieved multiple No. 1 singles on the Billboard Gospel Airplay chart and founded his own company, ZetRoc Entertainment.
Cortez’s work has received significant recognition in the gospel music industry. At the 2023 Stellar Awards, he won Traditional Male Vocalist of the Year, Traditional Album of the Year for IMPRINT: Live in Memphis, and Praise & Worship Song of the Year for “You’ve Been Good to Me.” He was also honored with the 2021 BMI Trailblazers of Gospel Award, reflecting his impact on the gospel music landscape.
