Lyrics
As We Gather
As We Gather May Your Spirit Work Within Us
As We Gather May We Glorify Your Name
Knowing Well That As Our Hearts Begin To Worship
We'll Be Blessed Because We Came (x2)
The Steadfast Love of the Lord
The Steadfast Love Of The Lord Never Ceases,
His Mercies Never Come To An End,
They Are New Every Morning, New Every Morning
Great Is Thy Faithfulness (Oh Lord)
Great Is Thy Faithfulness

Meaning & Inspiration
This recording joins “As We Gather” with “The Steadfast Love of the Lord” in one medley by The Maranatha Singers. The first section is a prayer for the time of worship: “As we gather, may Your Spirit work within us, as we gather, may we glorify Your name.” It adds the thought that as hearts begin to worship, “we’ll be blessed because we came.”
The second section turns from the gathering to God’s character. It sings that the steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end, and they are new every morning, before closing with “Great is Thy faithfulness.” Together the two parts move from the church’s coming together to the Lord’s faithfulness that meets it.
The second section follows Lamentations 3:22-23 closely, and the gathering echoes Hebrews 10:24-25 and Matthew 18:20. The prayer for the Spirit’s work in worship is close to John 4:24. The tone is quiet, reverent, and congregational.
