Lyrics
Verse 1
The Lord is my shepherd
And He is everything I need
So, I will not worry
I will not fear the enemy
He said that He loves me
He said that He's with me even though
I walk through the valley
Of shadow and death and still I know
Chorus
He has good plans
He has good plans for me
So, I will take heart
In deserts and gardens
He has good plans
He has good plans for me
If I know my Father
I know my Father
Has good plans
Verse 2
No weapon formed against me will prosper
The Lord is my Savior
So why should I doubt my victory
Why would I question?
The rod and the staff that comforts me
He quiets the waters
He quiets the storm inside of me
So, what could be better
Than walking with Him when I believe
Chorus (Repeat)
He has good plans
He has good plans for me
So, I will take heart
In deserts and gardens
He has good plans
He has good plans for me
If I know my Father
I know my Father has
Chorus (Repeat)
He has good plans
He has good plans for me
So, I will take heart
(Oh, oh oh oh)
In deserts and gardens
He has good plans
He has good plans for me
If I know my Father
I know my Father
Has good plans
Oh, oh oh oh
Bridge
We submit to Your plans
We submit to Your plans
Surely
Your goodness
And mercy
Will follow after me
So, fear will not find me
'Cause I'll be dwelling in the house of God
Bridge (Repeat)
Surely
Your goodness
And mercy
Will follow after me
So, fear will not find me (Woo)
'Cause I'll be dwelling right here in the house
Bridge (x2)
Surely
Your goodness
And mercy
Will follow after me
So, fear will not find me
'Cause I'll be dwelling in the house of God

Meaning & Inspiration
“Good Plans” by Red Rocks Worship builds its first verse from Psalm 23. The Lord as shepherd who is “everything I need,” the walk “through the valley of shadow and death,” and the rod and staff that comfort all come from that psalm, and the singer answers them with “I will not worry, I will not fear the enemy.” The chorus then states the central claim in plain words: “He has good plans for me.”
The second verse adds a line close to Isaiah 54:17, “No weapon formed against me will prosper,” and sets doubt aside by asking, “Why would I question?” The image of quieted waters and a quieted inner storm recalls both Psalm 23:2 and the stilling of the sea in the Gospels.
The bridge shifts to submission, “We submit to Your plans,” and ends on “Surely Your goodness and mercy will follow after me,” again from Psalm 23:6. Trust here is not presented as a feeling but as a conclusion drawn from knowing the Father.
