Do Not Let Me Die is framed as an urgent prayer for attention, strength, and protection. Its repeated appeal for God to look, answer, and restore closely follows the language of Psalm 13:3. The lyric does not hide fear: the possibility of losing family and friends, the threat of enemies, and uncertainty about what to do all appear within the prayer. Even so, distress is directed toward God rather than treated as the final authority.
The song also places hope in the saving character of Christ. Its description of the Father as the way of life recalls the language of John 14:6, while the plea for the Holy Spirit introduces a request for divine presence amid danger.
