About Spirit Of Praise

Spirit of Praise is a South African gospel music collective that produces live worship recordings and gospel projects. Formed in 2008, the collective is owned by Aubrey Peacock and Matthew Nkabinde of Spirit Music Group. It functions as a platform for various solo gospel artists and vocalists to perform together in live recorded shows.


The project began with a two-volume live recording at the Pretoria State Theatre in 2008. Since then, Spirit of Praise has released 10 volumes of live gospel albums over a span of 17 years. Notable releases include Spirit of Praise Vol. 1 (2008), Vol. 4 (2012), Vol. 6 (2016), Vol. 7 (2018), Vol. 8 (2022), Vol. 9 (2023), and Vol. 10 (2024). The collective has featured numerous gospel artists over the years, including Omega Khunou, Dumi Mkokstad, and Mmatema.


Gospel musician Benjamin Dube was a prominent figure and musical leader in the collective from its inception until his departure in 2025. The collective’s work has earned multiple industry recognitions, including nine Crown Gospel Awards and three South African Music Awards (SAMA). Spirit of Praise has also received a Gold YouTube Award, reflecting its reach through recorded live worship.
