Meaning & Inspiration
“Press My Way Through” as sung by Neal Roberson is built on one short refrain about perseverance. The words “I can’t give up now, I must press my way through” treat endurance as a choice, even when the way is hard, and the repetition suits a congregation that sings it together.
The second half of the refrain gives the reason for pressing on: “God’s got something waiting if I press my way through.” This turns the effort into expectation, with the promise lying ahead rather than behind. The idea is close to Philippians 3:14, where Paul speaks of pressing toward the goal, and to Galatians 6:9, which encourages not growing weary in doing good because the harvest comes.
The woman who pressed through the crowd to touch Jesus in Mark 5:27-34 is another picture of the same determination. Because the lyric is short and repeated, it works as an encouragement for hard days, with its attention on faith that keeps moving forward.
