Lyrics
God, You brought us out of the wilderness
Oh, rejoice, my heart will always sing
Led our wandering souls in Your faithfulness
Oh, rejoice, my heart will always sing
Praise the Lord
Oh my soul
Let all that is within me praise the Lord
Bless His name
Forevermore
Let all that is within me praise the Lord
You poured out Your life in amazing grace
Oh, rejoice, my heart will always sing
Now I'm not defined by my past mistakes
Oh, rejoice, my heart will always sing
Praise the Lord
Oh my soul
Let all that is within me praise the Lord
Bless His name
Forevermore
Let all that is within me praise the Lord
Oh, and we sing praise upon praise
For grace upon grace
Let all that is within me praise the Lord
We sing praise upon praise
For grace upon grace
Let all that is within me praise the Lord
When my Savior's face I will finally see
Oh, rejoice, my heart will always sing
Held within the hands that have bled for me
Oh, rejoice, my heart will always sing
As we stand in awe of the risen Son
Oh, rejoice, our song has just begun
Oh, rejoice, our song has just begun yeah
And we sing praise upon praise
For grace upon grace
Let all that is within me praise the Lord
We sing praise upon praise
For grace upon grace
Let all that is within me praise the Lord
Oh, and we sing praise upon praise
For grace upon grace
Let all that is within me praise the Lord
We sing praise upon praise
For grace upon grace
Let all that is within me praise the Lord
Praise the Lord
All this is within me
Bless His holy name
Praise the Lord
All this is within me
Bless His holy name
Praise the Lord
All this is within me
Bless His holy name

All this is within me
Bless His holy name

All this is within me
Bless His holy name

All this is within me

All this is within me

Meaning & Inspiration
Praise Upon Praise centers on worship that rises from remembrance. The song traces divine faithfulness through wilderness, grace, freedom from past mistakes, and the hope of seeing the risen Savior. Its repeated summons to praise with the whole soul closely echo biblical language and give the lyric a clear congregational focus. Praise is presented not as a passing reaction but as a continuing response to mercy.
The movement from rescue to final hope gives the song a broad view of redemption. References to hands that bled, the risen Son, and grace upon grace place Christ at the center without losing the direct simplicity of the refrain. Psalm 103:1 is especially close to the repeated call for everything within the soul to bless the holy name. John 1:16 also supports the language of grace received in abundance. Together, these themes portray worship as gratitude for rescue, forgiveness, and lasting belonging.
