Meaning & Inspiration
Worship Medley Interlude is a short moment of adoration built on the names of God. The opening repeats Emmanuel, calling on the name to be praised, and the next section recalls that in Genesis 1 He is called Elohim, the eternal one who never changes. A final line says His name is a strong tower and whenever it is called, He makes a way.
The name Emmanuel comes from Isaiah 7:14 and Matthew 1:23, Elohim from Genesis 1:1, the unchanging God from Malachi 3:6, and the strong tower from Proverbs 18:10. The idea of making a way fits Isaiah 43:19. As an interlude, it is brief and repetitive, giving a worship leader and congregation space to reflect on who God is and respond in praise between longer songs, and its tone is reverent and expectant.
