Lyrics
Verse 1
Along life's way I stumbled in the darkness
My blinded eyes have caused my feet to roam
I met the lord who spoke to me so sweetly
Come walk with me and I will see you home
Chorus
Come walk with me; the road the straight and narrow
Come walk with me; you cannot walk alone (Cannot walk alone)
For the road is very long and there are many, many dangers
Come walk with me and I will see you home
Verse 2
I listen to the blessed invitation
I asked the lord if he would take me in
He said repent and turn to me in prayer
And some day soon I'll lead you safely home
Chorus (Repeat)
Come walk with me; the road the straight and narrow
Come walk with me; you cannot walk alone (Cannot walk alone)
For the road is very long and there are many, many dangers
Come walk with me and I will see you home

Meaning & Inspiration
“Come Walk With Me” by Marvia Providence is a gospel invitation to follow the Lord along a narrow road. The first verse admits stumbling in darkness with blinded eyes, then meeting the Lord who spoke sweetly and offered to walk the singer home. The chorus turns that invitation outward: the road is the straight and narrow, it is long, and it holds many dangers, so no one can walk it alone. That is close to Matthew 7:13-14, where the narrow way leads to life.
The second verse describes accepting the blessed invitation and asking the Lord to take the singer in. His answer is to repent and turn to Him in prayer, with the promise of being led safely home, which echoes Mark 1:15 and Psalm 23:4.
The song is plain and repeated. Its message is that the Christian path is not walked alone, and that Christ is both the guide and the destination.
