Marvia Providence

Marvia Providence is a gospel vocalist and ordained evangelist who brings a distinctive blend of Caribbean rhythms, gospel, and soul to her music. Born in Jamaica and now based in Canada, she discovered her talent for gospel music at age eight and committed her life to Christ in 1985. She later earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies from Emmanuel Bible College in Kitchener, Ontario, grounding her ministry in both academic and spiritual formation.

Providence has performed internationally, sharing stages in the United States, the United Kingdom, and across the Caribbean. She has appeared alongside notable gospel artists including Kirk Franklin, Fred Hammond, and Shirley Caesar. Her recorded catalog includes the album “Too Much to Gain to Lose” (1994) and songs such as “Hear My Cry Oh Lord,” “I Am Anointed,” and “I Am a Warrior.” Later releases include the album “Be Encouraged” (2012), the live project “I Am Anointed Shabach 2.0 (Live), Pt. 1” (2022), and the single “Church Hymnal Medley (Live)” (2023).

Her contributions to gospel music have been recognized with several honors. In 2008 she received the Hopeton Lewis Caribbean Gospel Music Award. She was named the 2013 CCGMA Canadian Caribbean Female Gospel Artist, and in 2015 she received the Canadian Achievement Glass Award, a lifetime achievement honor. Through her singing and her work as an evangelist, Marvia Providence continues to share a message of faith rooted in her Caribbean heritage and her Christian calling.
