Lyrics
Verse 1:
Your love is everlasting; it's an everlasting love
Your mercy is as new as every rising of the sun
And Your loving kindness,
loving kindness is better than life
Your grace is all-sufficient; it's an all-sufficient grace
Your power and Your glory are forever on display
And Your loving kindness,
loving kindness is better than life
Chorus:
Oh it's better, Oh, better than life
Oh so much better, Jesus,
Your loving kindness is better than life
Verse 2:
Fairest of ten thousand, of ten thousand You are fair
And nothing in this world could ever measure or compare
To Your loving kindness,
Your loving kindness is better than life
All Your ways are just, oh Lord, You're just in all Your ways
And I will lift my hands, oh Lord, in gratitude and praise
For Your loving kindness,
Your loving kindness is better than life
Bridge:
Jesus, Your loving kindness is better than life itself
Better than life itself
(2x)
Ending
Better than life, Better than life
Better than life

Meaning & Inspiration
“Better Than Life” centers on the surpassing value of Christ’s lovingkindness. Its verses gather several attributes of God—everlasting love, renewed mercy, sufficient grace, enduring power, justice, and beauty—and answer them with gratitude. The recurring declaration that divine love is better than life gives the song a clear devotional focus rather than treating praise as a response to circumstances alone.
The central phrase closely echoes Psalm 63:3, where God’s steadfast love is valued above life and answered with praise. The mention of mercy arriving with each sunrise also recalls Lamentations 3:22–23, while the confession of all-sufficient grace aligns with 2 Corinthians 12:9. These connections support the song’s movement from reflection to worship: God’s character is named, compared with every earthly measure, and celebrated as beyond comparison. Lifted hands and repeated praise become fitting responses to grace, mercy, and faithfulness that do not run out.
