Lyrics
Verse 1
Sweet Jesus, You are the wind beneath my wings
Sweet Jesus, You are my melody and harmony
Sweet Jesus, You're the eyes that I see through
Sweet Jesus, Yes I'm dancing to your tune
Pre-Chorus (x2)
For as the deer pants for water
So my soul longs for You Lord
Forever and ever Yes
This heart beats for You
Chorus
Something more than gold
I've got something more than gold
Something more than gold
I've got something more than gold
If all I've got is Jesus
I've got something more than gold
I'll tell it to the world
Jesus is more than gold
More than gold, more than gold
I've got something more than gold
I'll tell it to the world
Jesus is more than gold
Verse 2
It is such an honour
That You call me your own
Your love is unchangeable
Keeps coming after me
Shepherd of my heart
I love how You love me
Treasure of my soul
I stand in awe of You
Pre-Chorus (Repeat)
For as the deer pants for water
So my soul longs for You Lord
Forever and ever Yes
This heart beats for You
Chorus (Repeat)
Something more than gold
I've got something more than gold
Something more than gold
I've got something more than gold
If all I've got is Jesus
I've got something more than gold
I'll tell it to the world
Jesus is more than gold
More than gold, more than gold
I've got something more than gold
I'll tell it to the world
Jesus is more than gold
Bridge
Jesus You are more than gold
Nothing else matters but You
Jesus is more than gold
Jesus is more than gold oh oh oh oh
I have You, I have everything
Jesus is more than gold
More than what money can buy
More than what the world would give
More than everything to me
Jesus You mean so much more to me
I've got something more than gold
If all I've got is You
You are more than gold
You are more than gold
You are more than gold
More than gold, more than gold
I've got something more than gold
My brother, my sister
Jesus is more than gold
More than riches
You are everything to me
More than life
You're more than gold

Meaning & Inspiration
“More Than Gold” by Judikay and Mercy Chinwo is a worship song that measures everything against Jesus. The opening verse piles up images of closeness, calling Him the wind beneath the wings, the melody and harmony, and the eyes the singer sees through. The second image, “as the deer pants for water, so my soul longs for You Lord,” borrows the language of Psalm 42:1.
The chorus makes the central claim: “If all I’ve got is Jesus, I’ve got something more than gold,” followed by a promise to tell it to the world. The later verse adds names for Him, “Shepherd of my heart” and “Treasure of my soul,” and speaks of the honor of being called His own and a love that keeps coming after the singer.
The bridge widens the comparison: Jesus is more than what money can buy, more than what the world would give, and more than riches or life. That echoes Psalm 19:10, which says God’s word is more to be desired than gold, and Paul’s statement in Philippians 3:8 that everything is loss compared with knowing Christ. The song’s message is that having Jesus is already having everything.
