Lyrics
You rescued me and picked me up
A living hope, a place revealed
A life transformed in righteousness
Oh won't you have rescued me
Forgiving me, you healed my heart
You set me free from sin and death
You brought me life and made me whole
Oh won't you have rescued me
And you loved me before i knew you
And you knew me for all time
A new created in your image Oh lord
And you bought me
And you sought me
Your blood poured out for me
A new creation in your image oh lord
You rescued me (2x)
You rescued me and picked me up
A living hope, a place revealed
A life transformed in righteousness
Oh won't you have rescued me
Forgiving me, you healed my heart
You set me free from sin and death
You brought me life and made me whole
Oh won't you have rescued me
And you loved me before i knew you
And you knew me for all time
A new created in your image Oh lord
And you bought me
And you sought me
Your blood poured out for me
A new creation in your image oh lord
You rescued me (6x)

Meaning & Inspiration
“You Rescued Me” centers on salvation as a complete work of divine mercy. Its language moves from being lifted up and forgiven to receiving freedom from sin and death. The repeated declaration of rescue gives the song a clear testimony-like focus, while references to healing, new life, and righteousness describe more than relief from trouble: they point to a transformed identity shaped by Christ.
The lines about being loved and known before knowing God place grace before human response. Images of Christ’s blood being poured out, being bought, and becoming a new creation closely echo New Testament descriptions of redemption and renewal. Repetition at the close keeps the central confession in view: rescue is presented as something God initiates and completes. The song therefore joins personal gratitude with core Christian claims about forgiveness, belonging, and life made new through Christ.
